Schlauraum 2022 // GRUND:WASSER

18.6.2022 - 24.6.2022

The 'Schlauraum' Festival in Münster, organized by the city and 9 different universities, took place once again this year under the premise of 'GRUND:WASSER', highlighting all the different ways in which water impacts and affects us in our life. Whether in the health sector, biology, religion or climate change the science festival introduces each topics to a broad audience of young and old through various science stops, lectures and guides.

Guerilla Poster - 'Die Entstehung des Lebens aus dem (Frucht-) Wasser'

The illustration showcases the evolution of life on our earth from the very first moment leading up to today. Everything started in the water - the primeval soup - and worked it's way up slowly towards conquering land masses and more complex organisms. As it was back then, so it is today, the human life starts in the amniotic fluid protecting and nurturing the being within.

Concept Post Cards: Ocean Wildlife

The illustrated postcards aim is to bring the beauty of the ocean and water dwelling animals closer to the people. For the front side of the individual cards I chose animals that were either not as well known or had very intriguing abilities and aspects to their being and way of life. A short introduction and fact check completes the front.

The back of each postcard illustrates the designated depth level in which those animals live. The text describes their way of life more in depth and highlights struggles. A specfifc trait or feature is elevated through an encircled illustration.

A second set of postcards follows the same principle, this time focusing on the 4 levels of depth chosen for the project. A short description on the front is completed by a longer, in depth explanation on the back of the card. The importance here lies with the dangers the corresponding levels are facing due to climate change, man made destruction or other animals.

The postcards can be collected for a full set and can be placed next to each other to complete the illustrations found on the backside or front for the individual water levels.
